John WycliffDate of birth (around 1320-13330) John Wycliff achieved greatness as a scholar and was renowned for his learning and writings not only in England but on the continent. He was responsible for the first translation of the Bible into English and prepared the way for the Reformation. He was a Fellow of Merton College in 1356 and master of Baliol in 1360. He moved to Lutterworth in 1374 and died there 31st December 1384. |
