Argyll, the Isles, Loch Lomond Stirling and the Trossachs From Bo'ness on the River Forth to the Isle of Tiree and from Appin to the Mull of Kintyre, the diversity of wonderful landscape, seascape, heritage and culture is almost as vast as the area itself. The place names roll off the tongue - Argyll, Stirling, Falkirk, Clackmannanshire, the Trossachs, Breadalbane, Loch Lomond, The Cowal Peninsula, Oban, Kintyre, Inveraray, and islands like Bute, Jura, Islay, Mull, Coll, Tiree and Iona. This is where the West Highlands meet the Lowlands, where you can start in Falkirk, travel west through the historic city of Stirling, associated so strongly with William Wallace and Robert the Bruce, into the fertile lowlands of the Forth Valley and then into the Trossachs, the gateway to the Highlands. Argyll looms next, then over Loch Fyne and to Inveraray, Oban, Kintyre and the islands beyond. So much to see, appreciate and enjoy and so close to Edinburgh and Glasgow with Dunoon and the Isle of Bute just over the River Clyde and Kintyre so close to Northern Ireland by ferry from Campbeltown. But the islands have this magnetic pull - ferry trips help you leave your troubles on the mainland and islands can be so friendly and encapsulating!
